Supplier types

Factory, trading company or marketplace?

Chinese “suppliers” are three different businesses. A factory owns tooling and production; a trading company sources from factories and adds a margin; a marketplace is a platform where both list. All three can deliver a good order, but the risks are different — a trading company may not control tooling or quality, and a marketplace gives you little recourse if a batch is wrong.

For recurring B2B supply, a factory has two practical advantages: you can talk to the people who control the mould, the QC standard and the production slot, and you can request tooling changes, private label and custom packaging without a middle layer. The trade-off is that a single factory has a narrower range than a marketplace — which is why the catalogue matters as much as the address.

  • Factory: owns tooling, QC and production schedule; supports ODM and private label
  • Trading company: wider range, but tooling and quality are third-party controlled
  • Marketplace: lowest commitment, weakest recourse and no direct production visibility
  • Verify which one you are talking to before you send a deposit

The company

Inside the Dongzhan factory

Dongzhan Auto Parts supplies truck and pickup body parts from Changzhou, Jiangsu — a Yangtze delta auto-parts cluster. The first exports went to Egypt in 2008: an Isuzu headlight order that still defines how the company thinks about product coverage. Today the business runs a export-ready production factory and warehouse, production capacity and more than 1,000 trade partners across worldwide.

The range is what most buyers underestimate: 179 catalogue SKUs covering 21 makes and 103 model generations, from Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux to Hino trucks, Hyundai Porter and Chinese pickups. New SKUs are developed at roughly 20 per month, driven by new-model launches and the modifications the market asks for.

  • New tooling and ODM projects coordinated with production partners
  • Inspection, packing and QC documented before the container seals
  • English-speaking export team handling documents and shipping
  • Production-site visits welcome — Changzhou is about 2.5 hours from Shanghai

Compliance

What the certifications actually cover

Certificates are the most over-claimed part of Chinese sourcing, so here is the honest version. quality system documentation covers the quality management system for automotive production; ISO 9001 documentation covers the broader quality system. E-MARK E4 and E11 are European type approvals for specific lamp families and light sources — the scope is supplied per SKU, and not every lamp in the catalogue is covered. SABER is a Saudi conformity programme the importer raises, and we support it with the technical file. CCPIT is the certificate-of-origin channel, not a product approval.

For a buyer, the useful question is not “do you have certificates” but “which certificate covers this specific SKU, and can I see the document?” We answer that per SKU before an order is confirmed — including saying no when a SKU is outside the scope.

Certification scope at a glance
Certificate Covers Does not cover
quality system documentation Automotive quality management system A product type approval
ISO 9001 documentation Quality management system Product compliance or fitment
E-MARK documentation Selected lamp families, specific light sources Fitment, US FMVSS 108, Gulf SABER
SABER (support) Technical file for the importer’s PC/SC The certificate itself — issued by an approved body
CCPIT Certificate of origin Product approval

Ask for the document, not the logo

A logo on a website is not a certificate. Ask for the certificate copy, the approval number on the product, and the scope that includes your SKU — from us or from any Chinese supplier you evaluate.

Due diligence

How to verify a Chinese auto parts supplier

The verification that matters is the one that gives you recourse when something goes wrong. Start with the legal entity and the money: the business licence name should match the bank account and the proforma invoice. Then verify production: a live video tour of the mould shop, the line and the warehouse tells you more than a brochure, and a port visit or a third-party inspection adds independent evidence.

Next, test the product and the process: order a sample against a real vehicle, ask for a QC photo pack from a production batch, and ask which conformity schemes the factory has actually completed for your market. Finally, check references — ask for two distributors in a market similar to yours and call them. Trade-show presence (Automechanika, Canton Fair, AAPEX) is a useful signal because it means the company shows up in person.

  • Business licence, bank account and invoice names match
  • Live video tour of production, not a edited marketing video
  • Sample fitted to a real vehicle before a container
  • QC photo pack per SKU: count, carton marks, product close-ups, loading photos
  • Certificate copy and scope for the exact SKU, not the brand
  • Two trade references in comparable markets
  • Port experience for your destination and incoterm

Custom work

OEM, ODM and private label

Custom work is where a factory earns its place. Our mould shop handles new tooling and ODM projects, samples are typically 5–7 days for stock-derived items, and packaging, labels, logos and painted-to-code finishes are handled in-house. For distributors that sell under their own brand, private label is available on all major families.

The honest limits: a new mould is a project, not a next-day order — expect 30–60 days for tooling, plus sampling and approval. Custom colours and packaging add MOQ and lead time. We will tell you when a custom route makes sense and when a stock SKU with your label is the cheaper answer.

  • New tooling and ODM development from drawings or samples
  • Sample manufacture 5–7 days for stock-derived items
  • Custom packaging, labels, logos and fitting instructions
  • Paint-to-code and colour-matched production
  • Private label on lamps, mirrors, bumpers, kits and chrome

Straight answers

What we do not do

Buyers who compare ten Chinese suppliers hear the same promises from all ten. Here are the limits of ours: we do not copy OE branding or supply counterfeit packaging; we do not sell single retail units; we do not promise certifications for SKUs that are outside the approval scope; and we do not claim that E-MARK makes a lamp legal for US road use, because FMVSS 108 is a different standard.

What we do promise is the boring part: a named contact, documents prepared before production, a QC pack before the container is sealed, and a straight answer when a part is not the right one for your market.

  • No counterfeit OE branding or packaging
  • No single-unit retail sales — B2B quantities from 20 pcs
  • No certification claims outside the actual scope
  • No FMVSS 108 claim based on E-MARK
  • No hidden layers between you and the production team

Talk to the factory, not a lead form

The fastest way to evaluate us is a 20-minute call with the export team: ask about your market, the parts you need, and how we would handle a wrong-fit claim. That conversation tells you more than any page on this site.

Questions

auto parts supplier China — FAQ

The questions buyers ask before ordering. If yours is not here, send it with the part list — you get a named contact, a quote and the certificate scope, not a form letter.

Are you a factory or a trading company?

Dongzhan Auto Parts Co., Ltd. supplies truck and pickup exterior parts from Changzhou, Jiangsu, China. We coordinate production with partner factories and handle export directly — so the people quoting your order also control the document set and the QC record.

Which certifications can you actually provide?

quality system documentation and ISO 9001 documentation for the quality system, E-MARK documentation type approvals on selected lamp families with the scope supplied per SKU, and support for SABER and other import conformity schemes through the technical file. CCPIT certificates of origin are standard. Ask for the certificate copy for your exact SKU — not a generic brand-level claim.

How can I verify the factory before ordering?

Check that the business licence, bank account and proforma invoice names match, book a live video tour of the mould shop and production line, order a sample and fit it to a real vehicle, and ask for two trade references in comparable markets. Live tours and references are the two checks that most buyers skip and later regret.

Do you offer OEM and ODM?

Yes. We develop new tooling from drawings or samples, produce samples in 5–7 days for stock-derived items, and handle private-label packaging, labels, logos and paint-to-code finishes in-house. A new mould is a 30–60 day project plus sampling and approval — we will tell you when a stock SKU with your label is the faster and cheaper option.

What is your MOQ and how do I start?

MOQ is 20 pcs/20 pairs on most parts, 10 pcs/sets on bumpers and kits. Send the vehicles you service, the parts and quantities you need, and the destination market. We reply within two business hours with a quotation and a suggested first order — no account or commitment required to get a quote.

Can you supply to my market legally?

We supply the technical file and documents your market commonly requires — test reports, product data sheets, HS codes, certificates of origin and conformity support. The import conformity certificate itself is raised by the approved body in your country, in your name. Requirements vary by country and product; confirm the exact route with your broker before ordering.
